Birth at last

my emp is giving birth ,finally, i have been waiting for ages, mated in march last year and has not eaten since before Christmas, only 1 baby so far but i think it has only just started, i am very happy and exited

gravid scorpions go that long without eating?!

^Yeah, easily. I had one go two months without eating prior to birthing.

not quite 30 more like 2!!!!!
i give that scorpion the best 11months of my life and it only manages to produce two babies
so if i lose one baby that's half the brood gone (bad times)
although i am a bit pressed for space at the mo so could be a blessing in disguise, i will just have to try my best to keep em both alive
managed to sneak a pic whilst bumping up the humidity

it might still produce more young. if you were interupting it or something happened it may have postponed the birth..

dont ya think that the slings eyes look like they have been drawn on with a pen lol

even if it is only two, congrats and i hope they make it past the early stages

Thats great to hear.Im glad you kept track the the whole thing.I also have a gravid female that mated Sep 5th.

I was searching around the net for gestation periods.Everyplace I found said either 9 months or 19 months.So its good to hear it took your Emp 11 months.

I was wondering if you would share your feeding patterns and tank temps?

for the first 6-8 months of gestation feeding was 1-2 per week
then her appetite really picked up and she ate like a horse for a month or two then stopped eating until birth
temps along with humidity were high, 90%+ in her hide and temps were up in the 30s during the day
what she did do about 8 months in is she destroyed her very lovely burrow and built a new one closer to the heat source

Thanks for the info.My emp is 5 months in.Month 2-3 she did tons of stillting and tipping her body dif angles outside her hide. I have pics if anyone wants to see.

Last 2 months she's been in her burrow pressed up against the side of the tank where the heat mat is.

Cant wait for her to pop ope its only about 6 months away

are you sure she didn't eat the rest before you saw it, just a guess but maybe

i dont think so, i kept a pretty close eye on her,
although it is possible which would be sad
maybe i could call her Tamora

well hope they both live,that would be a same to loose half or all 2........thats sad may be its just natral selection
