Post-molt mordax and a new addition

I had my first U. mordax from July's brood make it to third instar earlier this week. Molt was Monday night into Tuesday morning, photos taken a few minutes ago (Saturday).





Quite a difference, eh?

Also, I got some juvenile Tityus stigmurus recently (thanks, Jared!). I thought I'd post a couple pictures of them.

That was an arachnid over state lines -- something the USDA personally told me they don't care about.



It's international borders you have to worry about, and I've never done that (despite the temptation when I was in Costa Rica).

How are the procedures to acquire permits in your countries? I know from some friends that they could receive them in the mail, albeit the context of
smuggling animals across national boundaries and what are the implications if you do get caught?

I've never owned an import invert: i.e. an animal that is not endemic to my part of the world. Furthermore my contention, for reducing the possible impacts of alien species is derived from my very general understanding of "why one shouldn't mess with mother nature."

Nonetheless, I saw Rafiq's imports the other day... Now I'm really keen at getting some foreigners like hi arizonenis, australlis, gracilis, jacksoni and the L.q. ... especially the desert ones...

No worries, it was a logical question brought up in response to what was said in this thread.

In the UK there's a big set of procedures you have to go through to get certain animals (including sending the government a bunch of dead specimens) and you have to pay lots of fees.

I don't know anything about importing over international borders, though -- I mostly get imports from authorized dealers who go through whatever is they need to to import bugs.

As far as state-to-state in the US, insects are about the only things that are heavily regulated. If all you're doing is keeping them for yourself, they'd probably just get confiscated. If you're selling and whatnot, then the punishment might be a little heavier.
