| hey i just had some questions about my emps housing (just switched from wood chips to coco fiber) and lighting and stuff... first of his home: and as for lighting what should i use? right now i have a uvb florescent fixture i use for my bearded dragon (beast) and i se it during the day sometimes but he never comes out, also at night ill use a black light i have untill i go to bed and he still doesnt come out, so im guessing no light? becasue when i turn everything off i can hear him clicking or hitting his claws... pincers against the side of the cage as he walks around, for heat he has a small heat mat (about 4x2.5") under the front right portion of the cage (a bit in front of the sunken burrow thats in the pic) also lol last question i promise, is this tank too big for him? he seems to like it, and i dont hink i could put many more hiding spots in a 25-30 gal. tank if i got another one | |

| Use one of those red bulbs made for reptiles. It will come out with it on.
Tanks are never too big.

| Seems like you could use a couple more inches of substrate. Throw another brick in there | |

| i would put the heat mat on the side of the tank not under, they dig deeper to cool off, also i agree that another brick of substrate wouldnt hurt, other than that looks great. | |

| just me or looks a Little dry?
also I agree about the red bulb. Mine come out with that on, they can't see red light.
People like to keep their tanks to one or two things in it, I dont know I like mine packed...I gotta put up a pic..

| Heat mat = On the back side. Scorpions burrow to get away from the heat when they become too hot, so putting a heat mat underneath is only going against their natural cycle and can lead to serious problems.
Scorpions are negatively phototactic meaning that they don't like any type of light. If you are going to use a light then use a red bulb because they cannot see red on their spectrum.
