| For bark and desert scorpions, it looks like ideal daytime temp is about 88*F.
But, what if summer time comes around and ambient temp is 100*F?
Could they tolerate that just fine or would I have to invest in an air conditioner set up to keep the temp in the high 80s?
Of course, their vivariums would be inside, in the shade, out of direct sun light and in a room that is ground level. Not upstairs where it gets hotter from rising hot air.
It does seem logical that desert/bark scorpions would frequently encounter hot temps like that in their natural habitat, so it makes me wonder.

| if you're asking their maximum heat tolerance well desert scorps can handle temps around 120 degrees F but usually by staying underground. bark scorps are fine with high temp as long as it is accompanied with high humidity (usually, as there are exceptions i think)
i live in both countries that can hit 104 degrees F during dry season and all my animals (and i mean all, not just the scorps) do live normally as long as everything else is in balance (e.g. humidity, light cycles, temp cycles, food&water.

| I’ve lost scorpions by forgetting to turn off my heat source on hot days but normally if they are given a room-temp and some shade they should be fine at 100F outside temp.

Looks like you are in LA. You must see some 100 degree days in August. Do you use an AC in your scorp room? How you keep them away from hot ambient air?

| I do absolutely nothing other than disconnect my heat pads. I usually have a fan on in my room anyways but that's more for me | |

| Since we are coming up on summer, and my region can get up to 49deg C. I work outside alot of the day, there's no way I can deal with that at home. I have A/C going for sure, but I can set it a little higher now that we have a newer/better efficient A/C.
So what would be a good comprise?
We have a good amount of desert type T's and I have H. Spinifers and hopefully soon B gigas.
Obviously supplement humidity with substrate dampness, some ventilation restriction for those that need it.
Input/criticism welcome.

| I live in central Georgia and in the summer temps can get up to 100 F and man the humidity down here is horrid too.. I have a room upstairs dedicated to my inverts. We have an efficient ac but I turn it off upstairs just to save on the light bill and run a little ceramic heater instead. I keep it on 80F and it will cut off when it reaches the desire temp but due to ambient outside temps the inside ambient will increase to around 86 during the day. And this is at its peak even when temps are near the 100s. I have never seen it reach the 90 mark. So as long as you keep them out of direct sunlight and such you shouldn't have no problems for an decent ideal temp. | |
