Please note I was under the impression that Dumayi's are Egyptian. I am now aware they are from Chile, NOT from Egypt, lol! so just to make sure no one if confused.. I'm correcting myself on here.
Video on my dumayi's will be put up as well

My Dumayi's names come from my favorite anime. and my three emperors all come from magickal historical backgrounds. Morgana, Morgose, and Mordred.

I agree, it gives a better connection to the scorpions as living beings.

Very nice looking scorps. This is actually one of my favorite species due to their color, body build, and attitude.
Good luck with them!
Any chance you could get pics of the two?

I had one of these about 3 or 4 years ago and it was great. Lost it and my B. Jacksoni colony all around the same time a year later unfortunately. Hope they do well together. I see some pics that show them in communal set ups like Emperors. Not sure if they are considered communal now. It's like they say with communal scorpions, they are all communal until they decide to eat each other! Great colors and fun to feed. Good luck.

I do not keep them together. They are considered non-communal in most cases now. I'm sorry you lost your scorps I'll be devastated when ever I lose any of mine. Do you know why you lost your whole colony? just age?

Beautiful specimens, I have P. Cavimanus on my wishlist at the moment. I really dig their colors. I've also seen your other vids on youtube. Where do you get your scorpions from in the mail?

Okay, good you separated them because as I recall, they are pretty defensive. As I read somewhere on this forum when I was researching to get mine, "Two or more P. Cavimanus kept together quickly becomes one well-fed P. Cavimanus. I kept pretty decent notes on mine and reported it on the forum back in 2009. Try searching Pandinus cf. Miliataris, as they were called before they fully switched to Pandinus Cavimanus, in the forum search and you should see some old posts. I think I kept my individual one around 75 to 80 degrees in a Kritter Keeper. Substrate was mostly coco fiber with maybe 25% or 30% white play sand mixed in so it would pack down good when wet. At least three inches deep when packed down. Mine dug a nice burrow from one corner all the way to the other end. Small water dish and about half the substrate damp...not soaked...just over pour the dish, then let it dry out most of the way and repeat. It would spend time above and below ground. I like this species more than the emperors. Definitely has one of the best coloration with the deep black and red. Fed mine roaches...bout one per week. Good ventilation in the top is important. Pretty standard stuff as you've probably read on this forum.
I also had a dresser drawer (so I could heat warmer using a regular old back heating pad) with B. Jacksoni in individual Glad plastic cups with just an inch of coco fiber (half of the cup misted/half dry)and a cork strip at an angle inside for molting. I also put a little smooth white stone on the dry sides of each...probably more for me than the scorplings...lol, the idea was to give it a cool spot to hang out and something to chase food around.
So, two different species with different temps/humidity, what went wrong? And how could I lose all of them all about the same time? Couple theories. First, I was out of town for a week, and when I got back it was a few more days before I misted and fed them. This broke the strict weekly cycle they had been on. It was summer, so I figured the temps would be okay. Possibly got too hot for them as I wasn't monitoring them for 10 to 12 days. More likely, this screwed up the humidity levels for them. As you know, our part of the country doesn't have much natural humidity. Also could have been too wet before I went on the trip and they possibly got mold in the enclosures. I didn't see mold, but it would have been hard to see with little flecks of white sand in the dried out coco fiber. So watch the humidity in your enclosures and have good ventilation so the substrate can air dry some between misting/watering. I also lost my Uroctonus Mordax scorplings prior to this holocaust because of humidity issues. Hence the reason I want to ease back in with a desert species. Plus I've learned some tricks with my tarantulas and the roach colony since then. Pour water slowly in just one corner (I now use a syringe or one of those turkey injector needles for ninja-like ease and accuracy) and the coco fiber will wick the moisture underneath quite effectively. This keeps mold from being a problem better than soaking big sections of the top surface. Be good at cleaning out leftover food bits that aren't eaten. These tips seem to be important in the smaller enclosures imo. But who knows, the place where I live could have sprayed pesticides outside, they all had a secret suicide pact, etc. It's hard to know exactly what happened. Just learn from mistakes and keep improving as you go.
Good luck with your collection and welcome to the forum. Great and very wise people are here and they are incredibly dedicated and willing to help. Hands down the best info you can find is on this site. I really enjoyed your box opening video above. It made me excited to order some new scorpions as soon as it warms up and more stock starts coming in the spring. Keep posting info and videos...you sound like you might be hooked just a little bit!

Thank you for all that info!! That really helped give me a more firm basis to work with!
I would encourage you to look into Bothriurus Dumayi. They are a strange type of Desert inhabitant. And I would feel much better knowing someone else is working with them, too. XD There is so little known about the Dumayi. But researching the Atacama desert and the alleged abnormal hills they are found on helps a little. Ken the Bug Guy carries them currently. They are very beautiful. I have a few videos of them up.
