| I was thinking that it might be a good idea for one of you experienced scorp keepers to write up a "scorpion safety" sticky in the general scorp forum. The purpose would be to cover how to safely care for hot scorps.
I have seen level 4 venom scorps for sale at pet stores here in Houston. Hot scorps are also commonly available at reptile shows. A newby might purchase one and need assistance on how to safely care for it. I have worried that someone might not know how fast a scorp can move and how fast they can climb. A guy I know got tagged by a B. jacksoni when he was picking up a bark hide with his hand because he did not know how fast the scorp could run around the bark and sting him. I'm glad it was not a hotter scorp.
For a forum mostly devoted to scorps, it might be wise to have a sticky promoting safety. Whenever a new person joins and has a hot species we could direct him or her to the safety sticky in addition to the care sheet. | |
