| Hello, I recently bought 4 Uroctonus mordax and some 150 Blatta lateralis for $30 total on arachnoboards. These scorps were collected around mid-November in Ashland, OR. I really really like this species! And for some time now I have wanted to find some for myself.. I have a question for those of you who collect U. mordax, live in Oregon, or know about them,: I live at the foot hills of the eastern side of the Cascades, at the bottom of the Willamette valley kind of into the McKenzie valley. Does anyone know the BEST nearby location to search for these scorpions? I want to go look for them in the spring, during my school's spring vacation. Should I go east into the Cascades and look for them in the mountains? Or south to Southern Oregon? Or more west to the Coastal mountains? Thanks. Picture 'web eviction' took. But these are the ones I have. | |

| Unfortunately Mr Mordax isn't around the forums anymore as he loved this species. You may find some info. if you search through his old posts on this species though. If you haven't done this already.
They're great looking little scorpions and are very similar looking to some Euscorpius spp.. That's probably why I like them so much.

| Hmmm, I apologise if this is naughty mods, but have you tried asking over on Arachnoboards? I know there are a couple of users there who are very keen on North American scorpion species may be able to offer up some useful information. | |

| I'm pretty sure Mike(mr. Mordax) had a post on locations some years ago. You should try the search function. I'll shoot him up on fb see if he has any interest in replying to this | |

| Hi Victor. This does not answer your question but if you have not already done so you might check out the scorp hunting tips in the "Sticky" sections in the "Hike and Hunt" part of this forum. There is some good general info there. | |

| Mike here. Eddy said I could help out in this instance.
I've found a bunch along the McKenzie River where it becomes Cougar Reservoir. Go blacklighting along the cliffs at night.
I've also found them on old logging roads in the Coast Range. Your best bet seems to be hilly areas that are exposed to the sun during the day. Look under rocks / trash / pieces of wood / etc.
BTW, in your original photo, it looks like you have two females, a male, and I'm not sure about the last one. (Males are matte, females are glossy.) BTW, I'd also suggest keeping them separate. I only had mediocre luck keeping this species communally.
Mr. Mordax out.
Edit: I've never hunted for them in Southern Oregon. I can't give exact ideas about it, but it's always worth a shot to look around if you're in the area.

| Thanks all of you. I was toled that they were 3 females and a male. What is ark g with keeping them communally? Will they injure each other? Thanks again. I think I'm going to try going during the day first. I'm going to try and go to the Blue River campsite, and McKenzie S. Fork to see if I find any. What about the campsites along cougar reservoir? I am also going camping, and we want to go to the mountains, but we have been camping at Blue River, and want to try some other campsites in the mountains. | |

| I think the circled spot is what Mr. Mordax was reffering to. I will try there next spring and summer after rains. I'm going to also try the cliffs at the North end of Blue River Reservoir. | |
