| Was going to buy a terrarium for my new B. Jacksonis. They didnt have the one i wanted, så i got a bigger one for my H. Laoticus! I never really liked those plastic things in terrariums, but i fell in love with some from Blue Ribbon when i was shopping for this new H. Laoticus home! The terrarium is 60x45x45. The middle "cave" is about 20 cm deep. Only two hours after the 3 scorps was put in their new home, the male draged the mom down in the deep tunnel for a dance im pretty sure that it ended well!(they havent seen each other for a month) He has been living with my other female scorp in quarantine, so the babies wouldnt get eaten. Right now i might have 3 gravid scorps. Im sure that the one he lived with the past month i gravid, because she is getting big! And she started hating him, typical And one of my B. Jacksonis is suposely gravid too. unfortunately i think that she has gotten mycosis in her front leg. the first part of it has turned dark and she does not use it. I hope she will give birth before it gets to bad. Slate rock hidings. God i love slate rock.. There is about 30-35cm of substrate at the deepest. Used my "quarantine" terrarium for my new B. Jacksonis, since the petstore didnt have the terrarium i wanted. A total rearranging of it, and this i how it looks. I think it turned out pretty good! - BTW its an 30x30x30. 19 boxes with H. Laoticus babies, home grown . The new terrarium for my 3 adult H. Laoticus. The terrarium for my two new B. Jacksonis. 20 boxes with B. Jacksoni babies. Some of you guys advised me to start breeding roaches, since the number of scorps in my collection i rapidly growing. So i bought some Dubias. Let the breeding begin! Hope you like the pics! Im not so good with a camera and they are taken with my phone, so im sorry for the quality. | |

| Very nice H. laoticus enclosure! I wish I could buy those sort of enclosures for my scorps but they are just too expensive. | |

| Indeed they are too expensive! I can tell you so much.. Its the last time i buy a "big" Exo Terra. The small ones like the 30x30x30 are great! but the bigs ones are not worth writting about. This is the second big one i bought, the other one was a 60x45x90 for my gf´s Crested Geckos. That one was also made cheap. And thank you! Im pretty satisfied with the outcome | |

| I have one of the big ones as well for one of my pair snakes and I just love how easy they are to work with but that doesnt justify the crazy prices these go for. I would rather stick to my cheap fish tanks lol. | |

| I need to try out with fish tanks too! some of the setups looks better in them i think. And the 60x45x45 i bought costed about 177 USD.. A big part of my hard earned paycheck. Ever had one of the 30x30x30´s? | |

| Nope, never had the 30cm one before. Over here the big ones cost about 180-200 USD.

| I love them. They are really sturdy! Im getting more when i get more scorps, and they cost about 60-65 USD.. Still not cheap! but they feel like real good quality. I regret not taking photos of the H. Laoticus setup i had in it, it was so good.. 200 USD its just crazy, and i really think that the quality bar has been lowered at some points with the new models. | |

Best is to provide some kind of size comparison item (e.g. coin/ruler) beside the specimen. My estimation: If total length of the scorpling is around 1.5cm +/- : 2.instar Total length of the scorpling is around 2.3cm +/- : 3.instar Note: Size may varies across specimens

| If it's about one month from birth, it could be still 2.instar.
Once the babies are born, to the time they dismount and start feeding, earliest could be within 12-14 days. If the keeper have NOT been "power-feeding" the scorplings, they should still be in 2.instar. Under power-feeding, 3.instar is possible in slightly more then a month from birth.
Measurement of the scorpion total length provides a better estimation of the instar.
