Hi, myself and my colleague are conducting a small population project on scorpions on a reserve in Southern Paraguay. If you could help us identify the following species, even just down to order or family would be great. Thanks!!

I cant be 100% sure but it looks like Buthacus leptochelys to me. you can google it to make sure.

Buthacus leptochelys are not from Paraguay. They aren't even from the same continent so that is not what you've got.
It's hard to say from those pictures. Maybe a Timogenes sp? Any way you could post some more photos? Perhaps some of it's hands, and some that are a bit less focused on specific areas so we can see the whole scorpion in focus?

I'm saying Bothriuridae or Chactidae families for now. Not particularly useful as it leaves you with a hell of a lot of species to choose from .
