| Oooo I love Polypterus. I remember when I first saw a P. senegalus at my old work years ago. It was love at first sight.
I set up a great display tank with a huge shoal of stunning XL Congo Tetras and a pair of P. palmas polli. The customers loved it, beautiful, shimmering Congo tetras darting about the mid levels of the tank, and ''dinosaur fish'' skulking around the bottom.
I found they were great escape artists, along with the reed fish and Channa, but they'd generally still be alive when you found them halfway across the shop floor in the morning lol.

never cross in my mind. from wat i know, they're hard to breed. need to create actual habitat, temp,pH and so on. plus i only have single specimen for every species, unless cross breed. if i had a chance, would love to breed them. they're now at 1ft length,, a year more, i need to upgrade to bigger tank. the gar died on early January from unknown cause, i guess cause by parasite or bacteria.
