PostSubject: Latrodetus Mactans   Latrodetus Mactans Empty5/29/2012, 3:51 pm

I've decided to try breeding Black Widow spiders. They're numerous where I live, but with all the spiders I've found I've had trouble finding a male. A friend brought me a female a few months ago and she laid an egg, so I kept it until it hatched. As they grew I began to separate them into single container. This weekend several of them molted and I can clearly see that one of them is a male. Out of some 200 spiderlings I manage to get a male. Anyway, does anyone know when he would be ready to breed Question I have a female that I raised from an egg that hatched last July and I'd like to breed him with her.

Thanks in advance!
Tim

I don't know when they are ready to breed, but good luck, tfleming!

He should develop pronounced palpal organs when he matures. Check this link. It should be pretty obvious even on a tiny male.

Thanks Street, nice link. My pic isn't nearly as nice at that one, but this is how I knew it was a male. I just don't know, when he is mature enough.

I'd say give him time to harden and feed him once. He should be ready to rock.

Wow, great minds think alike. I just gave him a dubia and the female is well fed, I figured once he has eaten he would be ready.

Thanks!
