Who or What got you into scorpions, inverts and the like ?

here's a good one.
it was actually scorpionforum's very own bex who prompted me to look for some Euscorpius. i kept two and then within a week i had a few other, non uk scorpions

so. who made you think "i want a scorpion"?

Probably myself. Started with snakes thanks to a friend and then went on to Ts, which I didnt like and I still cant stand them in my collection which prompted me to find an alternative. Eventually I found that scorps would be awesome and today I cant seem to stop myself from buying them.

I guess I got myself into the hobby. I always liked arachnids and other inverts. I grew up surrounded by spiders and other bugs. (I used to live in Virginia.) When I moved to NY, I saw some tarantulas and scorpions in a local pet-store. (It's the only pet-store I've ever seen that cares for inverts correctly.) So, 5 years ago, I convinced my parents to let me get an Avic, I've been keeping inverts ever since.

Also I forgot to add that Cornell University has a bug show once every year, so that's got me into scorpions specifically. Here is the link to the Cornell insect show, if anyone in NY is interested.
There are two rooms that are specifically for live insects, spiders, other arachnids, and myriapods. Unfortunately many people bring their young children, (3 to 7 years of age.) so it can get quite loud. So if anyone on here who lives fairly close to Cornell, decides to go, I suggest going towards the end when people start to clear out.

Its was a friend that took me to a local reptile shop hat got me into scorps, he took me in there to get some bugs for his bearded dragons so i started wondering around just looking to see what was there and found a couple of scorps tucked away in the corner and instantly fell in love with them, so a couple of weeks later after doing some research online i went back and got my first emp.

Myself. I used to catch and keep them for fun when I was younger in Arizona you couldnt take me outside without me flipping rocks over, then I found out that you able to purchse a huge varitey of scorps online well rest is history.

all i get near me is house spiders and woodlice

Well used to live anyway now i live in Roswell, not too much out here besides black widows, fire ants. lots of C. Vittaus but i miss the variety of scorps in AZ. Everytime i visit the very first thing i want to do is go scorp hunting day or nite. Ill go as far as to say hey stop the car i need too go to bathroom just so i can flip a couple rocks lol

Bet you must have a mini container (e.g. pill bottle) with you in your pocket at all times

it was my Dad that got me into stuff like this he kept scorpions tarantulas snakes and ghekos and loads of other stuff that used to fascinate me, unfortunatly he died about 9 years ago now, my fiance decided he wanted a scorpion too so we decided to get an emp, then the rest followed on really

I saw a rose at the pet store, and i decided i wanted it, so i bought it later with my dad. This was when i was 9 years old and the t' cost 55 GBP .......!

At first i was like, "like hell im gonna read all that this late in the evening!" And then i just read it, lol.

Always wanted but after my emp died I gave up on scorps. Then shadowfoot inspired me to get into scorps again.

when I was a kid i used to always be fascinated by spiders and scorpions, but my mom would never get me one. this is actually good since knowing what i know now there is no way it would have been properly taken care of.

then last year i had some extra cash, and saw a scorp at the pet store and i bought it :3
then i joined this forum to get the knowledge needed to properly take care of it :3

I fell in love with them when I saw them put into a locked treasure chest with a man inside. I believe it was an old peter pan movie.

Only read this now. Glad that I inspired you to get back into the scorp hobby man.

Iv always loved animals/wildlife. Didnt grow up ever getting to own anything because my mom was scared of almost everything other then dogs lol. My friend owned a bearded dragon and i like it so much i decided to get one. Coolest thing ever. Its almost like a child and seems at times like it can understand you. After about a week of owning a bearded dragon he called me over to show me videos on youtube with scorpions. I wanted one within 10 mins of watching. Only problem was is i was still living at home. I had to sneak the bearded dragon into the house and she kinda let that slide lol. Well on June the 14th was my 23rd birthday and my new wife was like "what would u like". I jokingly said "a scorpion". She replied "SERIOUSLY" i said yea who has a scorpion.... NO BODY... Well after alittle talking i got one : ) and ITS AWESOME. Iv had it for 5 days now and am ready to get another and another im addicted. Only problem is getting her to let me get more lol. THere are so many types of scorpions and i would like to have all of them lol.. Well thats my story. lol
