depressing day :(

one of my scorpions died :/
does anyone know why this might be??
it was in a 30 gallon tank with 2 adults and a smaller one
one of the adults was put in about a week ago
the little scorpion hasnt been eating for about 2 months i havent seen it drink water for just as long
it would just kill crickets and drop them when offered
the adult one iv had the longest doesnt eat either and rarely ever comes out of the hide
the temps in the tank are always above 70 and i keep the top of the substrate moist so does anyone
know what the cause of death may have been :/

sorry to hear. but the question is; which scorpion died? the adult that was in there previous before the new adult or the smaller one?

And what are the sex of each scorpion? perhaps the adult scorpions were male and female, and female killed male after mating? i dont know.

it was the smaller one that died i noticed it would always try going in the other scorpions hides but then the other day it just started sitting out in the open and being not very responsive
and then yesterday it just randomly started kinda like flopping around like flaing its tail and stuff and then this morning it was just laying in the same spot from yesterday unresponsive

um and what should i do with the dead scorpion i feel bad just throwing it away
anyway i can preserve it?

Keep it in the freezer until you can bury it

I understand your concern, I had an exceptionally large Heterometrus in the 70s that I wanted to preserve but he rotted before I got around to it.

Do a search for Taxidermy, you will find two good threads from Bex and LadyRiotControl.

Hmm, that is unfortunate for sure..


but, i can say that when my scorpion dies, I usually bury them in the corner of my back yard.. better then flushing them down or throwing it away, have to be decent enough.

I buried Scorpinox and Bumblebee next to each other under a tree.

Yeah, my scorp Mittens is close to death, it's just a matter of time. I got a cool spot to bury her though.
