| I am planning on getting a Pink Toed Tarantula soon and had a few questions.
Temp - How do you all heat the tank? I know they need slightly higher than room temp like 75-80ish. I could use a heat pad but i keep reading horrible reviews about heat pads so I'm reluctant to get one...The only thing I can think of is maybe using a very small space heater near the tank. My emps could benefit from this too, but i worry about running a space heater all the time.
Misting - How often do you mist the tank to keep the humidity up?
Any other helpful tips are welcome! | |

| I use a heatpad on my tank. You should put it on the side of the tank, not the bottom, as they are arboreal. Get one that is low power, (No more than 5 watts) you don't want a cooked tarantula. As for humidity, they really don't need it as high as you think. Just keep the substrate moist, and have a water dish available. I recomend that the water dish be at the same level as the hide. (I do this by taking a small plastic cup, and putting it into a cork tube, which the bottom of is burried in substrate, so it does not fall over) Here is a pic: And another: You can see what I do with the heatpad, on some of my youtube vids. | |

| What brand heating pad do you have I heard sometimes if you put them on the sides they dont work very well. Also i hear they fall off a lot. Wondering if there is a way to attach them without using the built in adhesive?
Nice water dish tip! | |

| I use "four paws" "natures heat" 5 by 9 inch heatpads. (I have not seen them in petstores for a while though. I have had the same heatpads for years. The adhesive will loose it's stickyness over time. I use packing tape to secure it.
