| I have my current animal under roof in a ten gallon tank with six inches of peat moss, two hides that are both burried half way, a shallow water dish and a 74 watt red light shining down on the whole system. The little wretch eats five crickets a week with the odd meal worm thrown in for good measure. What do Y'all think? Good enough?

| Sounds good to me. As long as you keep the substrate moist and the temp around 85F, it should be a happy scorp. Has it dug a burrow? | |

| Yes, she has dug a burrow, at least she shoveled out a bunch of soil out of one of her shelters. I will try to reduce her food intake and feed her less. No usefullness in a fat scorpion Aye?

| I use to feed my Emps about 3 crickets a week give or take. It wont eat itself to death but it will become sluggish. | |

Indeed but they are known to reject food as well. They are odd buggers. Sometimes go months with no interest to eat and other times they eat everything including themselves. Gotta love it eh'?

| Thank ye all kindly. I now feed her 2-3 crickets a week with a mealworm "treat" on the weekend. Ol' Wyatt 'parently told me right with these things if that be the only problem was too much food. And is that ever really a problem when ye have too much food? -Jim | |

enjoy +1 on that. I've started reading the mood of ours. If she's out wandering the tank, I know she's hungry and will hit whatever I drop immediately. If she's sitting under the heat lamp or just chilling in her burrow, I know she's good and not necessarily lookin to eat.

| Yessir Wyatt, ur advice seems to have paid off well. The beast is living happily under rock and eating everything I throw at her, although these kind folks have advised me to slow her food intake down. She kinda reminds me of an old Squaw I hear tale about, always bawlin fer more and more and more until finally the man packin 'er, man by the name of Hatchet Jack, took 'er into town and traded her fer a Hawkin Rifle. Now how do Ye like that! Ye jest tell me the date yer comin' on home son and I'll git my gear a rollin yer way. What are ye hopin fer ths season? I wudn't mind baggin me some more of yer blasted song dogs. A thicker coyote pelt could not be asked fer than the mangy beasts ye got roamin through Ohio.

| I love your stories Jim. Well, I do believe September 10th will be the day I get back into Ohio so anytime after that. I was thinking Muskrats this season, I haven't tried my hand at them yet. What do you think? | |
