| My female emperors bottom jaw of her left claw and her tail are looking pale. Like the shininess of her armor is gone.
What is this?
Pics soon. | |

| Taken with my blackberry. The difference in colour on the claw is not lighting. Her entire tail has that same dulled look to it. She isn't dragging her tail, and she has been eating regularly. Actually, she ate 2 large crickets before my male Emperor even finished 1. | |

| Kinda blurry to see anything, but sometimes dull coloration comes from hard water. Do you mist your enclosure? Mineral deposits can build up on your scorpion if you don't use distilled water. Tap water, spring water, and really any water filtered or otherwise will have minerals in it. | |

| I used to mist my enclosure occasionally, but lately I have started just pouring the water in.
Is it bad for the scorpion, Or is it just cosmetic?
I used tap water. | |

| Tap water is lightly chlorinated so it's not recommended. The chlorine won't hurt us in those amounts, but can cause health problems in smaller animals. Pouring water won't hurt it, but you should either used bottled water, distilled water, or filtered water.
Again, I'm not sure if what you describe on your scorpion is indeed mineral deposits. Does it look sort of chalky? | |

| It's probably just mineral deposits then. It's nothing to worry about, but it doesn't come off. Switch to distilled water and it should not spread further. | |
