| Hi Gnat Androctonus are 'fat tails'.. so you bought it for what it was advertised for. Most likely caught around Egypt or close too.. It doest look like and Androctonus australis, although it is very very yellow. If it is an adult, you can check on size, it is a female. As a reference, my adult female. Notice the tailshape and pinchershape which resembles yours very much. | |

| Im positive its a female, about being gravid.. well, wait and see. Usually you will see small white circles on the side of it if it is. If you leave it alone and in good conditions, check back a few weeks later and see if you find white spots. It might not have them now, but it can have them later.
I believe (just own opinion) they can develop the embryos on demand. Sort of like, when the time is right.

| Isnt its tailtip too black and too thick to be amoreuxi? Picture below is A. am. You could be right, though it has strange colors...

| When were you at the repticon? I was there from 9-12 Saturday. I didn't see this guy, or I definitely would have grabbed him.. Which vendor had him? I got an LQ, and a Androctonus australis from the guy in the back left with the Mohawk, and a arizoninzus from the guy in the middle with all of the skeleton legged T's. | |

| i was there from 10 to around 330. the guy with the mohawk was Mike with Exotic Kingdom, he was one vendor with death stalkers and yellow fat tails, the other vendor was kind of in the middle, had a huge section of tables. it was the guy with netting over all the invert deli cups. hes the one i got the fat tail from. the guy i talked to and bought it from was a young guy in his 20s with short hair and 3 lip studs. | |

| Its tail is way too narrow to be a male australis. That coupled with the fact its body is way too oval.. and its pinchers are not too big nor 'notched'. The gap between the finger and the base of the pincher is not as pronounced as it is with Androctonus mauritanicus, but it still is there. Count the pectines and be sure, but I'm positive. female 22-29 pectine teeth, male 30-38... this is a male australis with the notched pinchers, fat tail and relatively small body. | |

| I go by tail size as well if there's no pectine shot. The others on arachnoboards are probably going off of bulbous chelae which in my opinion isn't a good way to sex andros, I would rather go with tail to body size but pectine is the 100% sure way to do it. If you want to be 100% sure put it into a clear plastic container and take a shot of it underneath and count the teeth.
That's either a really fat male or a normal female.

| For best accuracy, it's still by pectine count. Do it safely and you can get your answer in less then 10mins | |
