| Just looking for confirmation on this little guy. He's only a couple inches just yet but I'm fairly certain on what he is. If not let me know now so I can get him off my hand, LOL! My apologies for the shady pictures, they were taken with my phone. Thanks for your time guys! :]

| It look like a Vaejovis species, not a Hadrurus. Where did you find it? | |

| Hmmm... Well I'm reasonably certain it's not a Haddy. The claws look to be too large, and they have those red lines on them. Like little ridges. Is the tail striped at all? | |

| It has the red ridges like his claws, otherwise no stripes. Those ridges were the only thing making me uncertain of if he was a Hadrurus or not. Glad I wasn't crazy! In those photos he has substrate on his tail. Here's one minus the strate, but a tad blurrier. | |

| Look up Paruroctonus boreus. I feel like that's your culprit... | |

| Definitely looks like him. The ridges are what set him apart... | |

| Yes exactly. If you look closely at a desert hairy you can see little ridges, but I've never seen one with colored ridges. P. boreus are awesome little scorpions though. Very hardy and pretty active in my experience. | |

| I'm having a lot of difficulty finding specific information on the northern scorpion, even using the scientific name. I am definitely considering hanging onto him, he's a beautiful one and very chill. If he poses a severe toxic threat however, I would just as soon place him back on his merry little way with a smile and a nod. | |

| Nah, they are mellow. Our fellow forum mate Wyatt just got tagged on the knee by one while he was on the hunt. He said it felt like a bee sting, maybe a bit worse, but it was gone in ten minutes or so.
As for captive care, they can be found as far north as Canada, so they can survive sub zero temps. I keep mine room temp. on dry sub. with a pop cap filled with gravel for water. Fill it once a week or so, and feed it two or three small crickets every week to two weeks. They are super easy. | |

| That's awesome. I'm very glad to hear that. :] I will definitely hold onto him then, he really doesn't seem to mind me and hangs out on the back of my hand while I surf the net, haha. | |

| Thanks guys. One more question: at 1 inch, how much should I feed the little guy? I buy crickets for my tarantula already so I just wonder how many I should give to him. I know adults can eat 2-3 a week, so does he get more for his growing body or less since hes a youngin? | |

| Awesome, thanks. That's another thing that terrifies me. I've been through plenty of tarantula molts, but this is my first ever scorpion so when he molts I'm going to lose it, haha. | |

| If that's a P. boreus then it's adult already. They stay very small. 99% sure it's not a desert hairy. | |
