GS, from your experience, at what instar can Andros be sexed?

Hey bud,
For sexing Andros, depending on the magnification of your camera's lens.. they can be sexed as early as 2.instar (via pectine count)

Sweet pic there. Save that exo skin and put in under a Macro lens or mini microscope and wootz! Sexed!

Your camera can attach close-up lens right? or get something like this below:

For reference only, there can be cheaper or more efficient microscope in the market..

That's what I figured, I tried to get a pic of it, but it's not quite clear enough to get a count. I think I need a microscope, LOL

While googling a few choices for you.. i came across this:



Zoom in and the iphone is there to save the image in digital form.. which can be further blown up in a pc..

Hmm, I'm pretty sceptic about those. I've seen some "digital" microscopes on ebay too, but even they look like a cheap digital cam with a zoom lens.

My cam does x12 magnification and 1cm macro distance, I can get pretty good shots of the pectines, but just not clear enough. Probably it's just a lens limitations. Even the handycams 40x zoom wasnt clear enough.

That's about the clearest I can get.

No, she's from the same brood, but only 2i going to 3i, but she didn't make it. All 6 of those lost in the mansion are present and accounted for. Only now they've all gone underground. I assume to molt from 3i to 4i. I got 10 more from Pluto, but they were all still at 2i. I am keeping them all separated. I had gone away for the weekend and the humidity dropped to low and this one started to molt and didn't make it.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed! There are holes dug all over the tank. I haven't seen a single scorpion in days. I'm just gonna wait and see what happens.
