Which of the two enclosure should I use for my LP considering its size now And guys is the lat here suitable for my LP or should I give her smaller sizes ***( My LP runs every time the lats gets too close). Thanks guys

| The size of the jar doesnt really matter tbh, but that prey is idd too big for a spider that size atm. They're no scorps :-D
Scorplings tend to eat their own size easily. Spiders are more easily spooked, from personal experience.

| Yeah, use feeders half that size. Something the size of a cricket tub will be plenty for a spider that size. Just keep it in it until you think it looks too big for the enclosure. | |

| A largish pill vial would do. It's gonna make a tiny burrow and rarely leave it. I'd use the tall one and fill it mostly with substrate if it's gonna burrow. Coffee jars, jam/jelly jars. Deli cups.
My slings run from micro crickets.

I do read some that they came to a dry areas but I saw some pics with somewhat wet substrate. It adds to my confusion so guys let all you be the judged

| Keep the substrate pretty dry and mist 1 side of the tub once a week. You can also tip water in 1 end every now and again. | |

| Instead of killing the prey outright. Try wounding it so it's thrashing it's legs. Stab it with a pin or something. I tried smashing the crickets heads in but the spiders didn't take to it. bean weavils or micro mealworms. Never tried bean weevils. Nor have I ever seen one.... Lol. But I hear their good for slings. | |

| They will take dead food but have to simpy stumble onto it. Bean weevils are a pain in the arse as they just climb upbank and stay at the top. They also escape from anywhere and you end up with hundreds of the buggers walking up your walls. best bet, till you get smaller crix or small roaches, just pinch the knees on the crix back legs to disable the back legs. It slows them down and means they cant kick the spider. | |

| guys do LP's tend to hurt their eyes when expose to light coming from a lamp like scorps do?
So they take dead feeds if they pass on em, can I do this for feeding? I mean, I kill the feeds and let the LP pass or stumble onto it

| They prefer dark or dim light and can't see red colour. Dont use light's for heating, the spider will simply curl up in hiding. You CAN drop dead food in but live is far better. I'd definately look into getting smaller livefood instead of using dead. | |

| As a heat source, lights are probably the worst you can get. They dry the air out very quick, they blow if it gets too humid in there, they blow quickly anyway and even the red ones tend to make the spider hide away as the filament gets so bright it burns the rec colouring off most bulbs. heat mat on the back/ side is far better or even better, get loads of animals and have a heated cupboard or room. | |

| When they blow its not humid in your enclosure, but plain wet without ventilation. I have never seen a red bulb give off color tbh and as far as the drying out, yes that is why sometimes wet, sometimes humid, sometimes dry.. for some variation. I'd mist the enclosure each day, just like it happens in nature.. Sunrays dry up the ground, condensation in the morning makes it wet again together with rainfall... In nature these spiders hide during the day too.. It may not be the best heatsource for tropic species, if you are lazy In the end, you see, everyone does it differently.. and I respect your opinion on this | |

| Well I use the room temp because it reaches up to 29-31 C I sometimes use the lamp if heavy rains falls. The temp decreases drastically when it rains btw my Lp eat the almost dead lat. almost as big as my LP | |

| unless the temp drops MASSIVLY, to the point where you are feeling very cold I wouldnt bother. A few hours cold wont hurt it at all. I do shows in winter when it's 0c or even less. They get packed into the back of a van, driven 2-3 hours, unpacked, stuck on a table for 5 hours, packed back up into van, 2-3 hours back home then dumped back into spider room. saying that though, if you are only using the lamp now and again it should also be fine. Whichever makes you more comfortable really mate. | |
