2 More new additions!

Well, went to the local smaller petstore that specializes in reptiles with inverts mixed in as well, no dogs, cats or fish at this one which is why I love it. The girl there knows that i'm a scorpion fanatic so she went out of her way to order these without my knowledge knowing I wouldnt be able to resist, DARN HER!!!

Androctonus bicolor looks female to me, hopefully gravid, wild caught




And an LQ adult, not sure of the sex since this is one of the few species i've never looked into how to sex, anyone with knowledge of them would be helpful. From looking at it it looks female as well, but i'm not sure what to be looking for.

Sexing L.q's

A tooth count on the pectines in the 20's it is female
if its in the 30's it is a male.

Or as I recently learned here , a males pectines meet at the base like so /\
while a females are like / \ at the base.

If you can get a clear shot of the pectines post it and I'll try sexing it for you.

Judging by the body shape, that Lq looks very manly to me and I've raised, kept, bred many deathstalkers. If you want to know for sure, put him/her in a clear bottomed container and look at the basal middle piece and the pectines. If the basal middle piece narrow enough for the pectine teeth closest to the base of the pectines to overlap when they are positioned straight with the body of the scorpion, its male and if the teeth don't look like they'll overlap, its female. This method works with most buthids, but takes a bit of practice to really get the hang of it. Basically the idea is this: Females need a much wider space between the pectines for the purpose of giving birth and males just need to squeeze a spermatophore out every now and again. Shoot me a pm if you need help sexing either one.

Would I be able to put one more adult LQ in the same enclosure as this one if there's enough hides? Petstore called and they have another for me.

Leiurussaleen has like four or five in one tank if memory serves correctly. It probably doesn't though. Check his picture thread...

I just checked. He's got two males, and two females in a communal tank. Or at least he did... Not sure if there has been an update since then.

Chrome it shouldn't be a prob putting 1 more in the same enclosure,
like Street said I've been keeping mine together for a while with no problems .
I got 2 males and 4 females now in a 10 gl tank, just keep them well fed and give enough hides.

No need, here's a pic, the one I had was a male, the one i picked up is a female. Real easy to tell beside eachother and underneath the pectine V and \ / was real easy to see.
