Letting my emp out to explore Empty
PostSubject: Letting my emp out to explore   Letting my emp out to explore Empty6/17/2011, 1:19 pm

My emp came out and was exploreing his cage last night, so I gave him the option to crawl up on me and then I took him first to the bathroom while i washed his water bowl out and let him "hunt" for a cricket, and then to the living room to let him roam the floor and explore. He was seeming to have a good time. although he gave me a fright when he crawled up the brick fireplace front and was atleast 3 feet above the ground. Thankful he crawled back up my hand so i could rescue him without stress or falling. It was quite an adventure for him last night, but I noticed that it seems like he has NO sense when it comes to ledges and would just walk right off the edge. Wouldnt that be an issue in the wild? I understand that he cant really see it, considering where his eyes are, but still, seems like it would have been a bad thing in the wild. Anyways, Wanted to share a few pics of his little supervised adventure last night
He was pretty happy just sitting here and it gave me a few cool shots (sorry for the porcelain god making it into a few photos)

When he decided to go ahead and crawl onto the counter he was quick to learn how navigate around the miscellaneous stuff in search of the disabled cricket I put in the corner for him.

I only used my red lights when I was taking photos of him exploring the living room though didnt want to cause him any stress, so none turned out good, so no photos from that. But when he finnally came back toward to the warmth of the light I decieded to let him crawl back up my hand and put him back in his cage... Then dropped in a cricket for a good "hunt" which he quickly grabbed up

lol lucky he didnt go down the toilet in the first pic lolz Smile in the wild they would be out at night so when they are out in uv it kind of blinds them, thats what meercats do when they dig them up drag them into the sunlight to blind them before finlally eating them (not emps though) they like eating the hotter ones lol

LOL. I actually was only using a red bulb when he was out to try and avoid stressing him (execpt when taking the pictures. I couldnt resist turning on the normal lights to get a few snapshots for about 5 minutes.) I wanted him to be able to explore and be able to watch him do something other then climb around on the glass or plants with minimal stress to him. Maybe my scorp is just a clutz like me when it comes to steps....

LOL. And no worries, he wasnt over the toilet, what would be a far drop... I always worry he is going to lose his grip and fall even though everytime he crawls up my arm and shoulders seems to prefer the hanging on sideways position, no mater what way I rotate my arm.
