i just purchased a female emp as a presumed 4i that is over a cm longer in the body than my fully grown female was... can somebody explain to me how this is? also she is a bit bigger than my male... are females always noticeably larger?

Yes probably, but there are instances that males are somewhat larger than female

Females are usually larger, and heavier as well. In certain species the male and female can be sexed just by glancing at it, though this isn't true for all because not every species have sexual dimorphism. If I had to make a guess why they're normally larger it would be because they give birth.

one more query on this subject is that i dont know for certain how many molts emps have i have been told 6 as well as 7... any answers?

I believe they mature fully at the seventh instar, so six molts.

+1 After the 7th molt they are an adult already and can be now prepared to breed
