| Heheh thought so too. But she is not long enough with the male to have developped these that rapidly. they have a 1.5 year gestation period so.......
She ate a lot, maybe it is just her bowls. But they do look like they are in the picture. They do look very egglike...
Lets hope Street, If I get some Ill ship some to the US with fingers crossed they survive. But that might be leaping a bit far atm.

| Bicolors really take that long? I had no Idea. So good for 1 maybe 2 broods lifetime. Crazy. I wish these weren't so hard to find detailed information on. | |

| Oh good. That sounds a bit more realistic. I was like but now I'm like . I always figured that gestation couldn't be more that six or so months just because of how fast their metabolism is. That really threw me for a loop there Pluto. | |

| Btw I will monitor and capture the spots weekly to see if the oval white dots become more 'pill' like..
I suggest you can see when she is almost going to give birth by seeing the dots expand into real larvae. At least that is my theory and ohh my are they big already in comparison to the mother's body.

| Excellent. So the pictures you posted after you joined are from when you introduced them together? If that's the case I'd say you are probably right to assume these are too far along to show like this in such a short period of time. Is it possible that it may have been gravid when you got it? | |

| Spot on. So the female might indeed have been pregnant, or these dots are no eggs but something else. That's why I'll keep an eye on her. No mating attempts have been made before though. I do know, before I put them together, that she was NOT having these dots, because I know they were WC the chances of being it gravid were already pretty high. I didn't see dots. I do clearly see them now (pictures) Or she was pregnant, or it is a parasite or my male got supersemen, just like its daddy They are let us assume, together for 1 month. | |

| BUSTED. They are put together from the 2nd of May She probably was being gravid already. But you know, when the situation is right they can 'use' the sperm that they stored. So she might have said, now is the time.. and got the factory going a month before the 2nd of May. This might also explain why I never saw a mating happening. They live wonderfully together, but the male doesn't get her to promenade a deux. Or at least not from what I have seen during the day. The enclosure was too big to search for spermatophores. Street, I still got the fattest bicolor on the market. Want some crickets of mine? | |

| Sure man, though I think mine may give you some competition if I can ever get some pictures taken. You know me and my lazy aversion to using cameras lol.
Really though, I gave them hides to use, but they both decides they would rather burrow. Next time they are getting loose sand rather than something that supports burrows. It's strange as they are not really known to burrow...

| Does yours have the white dots and is it WC? Mine dig too if you let them. It is perfectly normal.

| They are WC, and I haven't noticed any white dots... They usually come out well after I'm in bed though and were quite skinny when I got them. Since they've plumped up I haven't had much chance to inspect them. I can just barely see one in it's burrow. | |

| No they are both in there. It's a split tank and the crickets disappear on both sides. Just that one burrowed against the glass and the other burrowed in the center where I can't see it. | |

| That's my suspicion. I haven't counted the pectines, and on bicolors there is a pectine tooth overlap with males and females so unless you've got one with substantially lower, or higher tooth counts it's not accurate. They both had more oval shaped bodies when they were skinny though. | |

| An overlap of 1 teeth mate (19-24 female / 23-30 male for regular bicolors) Should be able to separate them like that. Pectines are considerably larger on males too.
It is even easier. Males are 2/3rd the size of females and much much more slender (which is why they appear to have bigger tails)
Hope it helped... If they are the same size and as you said, pretty fat.. its definately females.

| Yeah they are quite rotund these days, and neither had slender long bodies like the males do. I'd say both of mine are the same size. One may be a little smaller, but about 3-3 1/2" mouth to tail. Haven't measured them though so that's just a guess. | |

| 3 1/2 is what? 8.5cm? That actually are pretty big ones then! Regulars and longecarinatus grow up to those size.. males are 4.5cm head to telson female is around 5 5.5cm. This is the cohabitating male, quite fat for his condition. It is standing against the upright wall of the cricket container. So very small but still it managed to grab my finger. | |
