Oh yes there is one scorpion allegedly higher than LQs and that is Odontobuthus doriae, sorry LQ fans lol Yeah, but ld50 testing is done on mice and rats, which doesn't count all the systemic reactions that can occur on the spot like anaphylaxis. With this knowledge of anaphylaxsis known, any scorpion can potentially kill a man as well as any other venomous invertebrate. I keep all of my scorpions because of some type of unique characteristic whether it be their dimorphism, color, granulation, natural habitat, etc. Scorpion keepers who keep scorpions not for their beauty, but for their deadly venom seem very similar to the people who keep pit bulls to make them look tough without realizing that the pedigree is classified as a terrier breed. I'm a Lq fan because Lq's possess a unique crest on their carapace and have one of the lowest bodily evaporation rates of any animal on the planet. Sorry for the soap box moment, but it really bothers me when people address scorpion keeping as some cool factor thing based on the venom the species we keep possess.

| No problem. No "sorries" needed. I hope you feel better now though! I dont keep any LQs because they simply dont attract the eye, so I hope your soap box moment wasnt triggered by me? Wouldnt want you to feel bad, damn cant find any hug emoticons... Everyone has their own motivation to do or acquire something. For instance.. if I would get aroused by their potency I would definately keep LQs? hell yes! and again, no I dont.. and never will. They just dont make me tingle inside when seeing one. I do respect the scorpion and people who do like them.. even though I cant withstand the urge to pester them sometime since most people take them in for their reputation as you said.. If you did take offense, you can always pm me, if you feel the need. Wouldnt want to spoil your post, especially not with that gorgeous Am in it. | |

| Now, without further avail, another brood! This one is Tityus bastosi The image quality isn't bad, its just harder than hell to get a good shot when your snapping a picture into the side of a deli cup. | |

It was a pretty craptastic picture, I was just excited about getting another brood. This will make the third Tityus bastosi generation born and raised in my care. I have a hard time justifying disturbing the female too much prior to removing the babies at 2i, which is why I didn't open the lid to snap the picture. In redemption for that poor picture, I'd figure I would share some pictures of the actual scorplings (8 total) and a few other broods I've produced thus far this year: Titus bastosi Hottentotta judaicus Hottentotta hottentotta ex. caboverdensis Centruroides guanensis (crappy pic. Couldn't get them to stop moving long enough to focus) Androctonus australis And last but not least, my small Tityus stigmurus army from 4 females giving birth around the same time (~ 1/3 shown in the picture) Enjoy

| Already posted this in another topic, but I figured I'd post it in my picture thread as well. This female makes most of my other scorpions aside from my Parabuthus transvaalicus and Androctonus australis look small. lovely adult Hottentotta jayakari female | |

Do keep up the GREAT work in breeding them my friend I'll do what I can. This is baby season, so I'm getting over ran by babies at the moment. Just had a Odonturus dentatus, Leiurus quinquestriatus, 2 x Androctonus australis, 2 x Tityus bastosi broods with a few others getting really close to producing broods. I'm gonna have to chill out on breeding the large brood scorpions until the next generation.

| Its been a while, so I figured I'd post some stuff both old and new Androctonus mauretanicus mature male Tityus simonsi male with thumb for size reference Chocolate morph Babycurus jacksoni with a few short gestation scorplings Monster Hottentotta jayakari female Liocheles australasiae 2i scorpling Parabuthus liosoma 2i captive bred by a good friend here in columbus Poss gravid Hottentotta cf. minax/polysticus eating a lateralis I will only say one thing about this next picture and that the species is in fact a member of the Tityus genus and is a special morph of a very rare species here in the states. Guess if you must, but my lips are sealed. | |
