| Is it an adult? If so, this is likely the case, assuming it is female. Post a pic of it for us to evaluate. If you're not sure if it's female, post a pic of the underside as well. By the way, you can tell if it's an adult by the color of the telson (the tail segment bearing the sting). Brown = adult, creamy = subadult, white = juvenile. If it's fat but not an adult, it's likely nearing a molt. | |

| you sure thats an emp? telson looks very black, didnt think emps had black telson i know Heterometrus laoticus do, also my initial guess was male, but im really not sure, doesnt look gravid from that last pic though either, im sure more experienced people will be along soon to give you a deffinate answer | |

| That's not an emp, and I'm leaning towards male as well.
Some sort of Heterometrus sp., but I can't get a species-specific ID from the pictures. | |
