| Bought this off a guy for $10. He claims it to be a pygmy of some kind. I am a tarantula collector and wanting to start with scorps too. Please help me identify what this is, it is about 30mm long. Dont want to keep something that might be illegal in our country (South Africa). https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/dsc00345tm.jpg/ https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/dsc00346cj.jpg/ https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/dsc00348gg.jpg/ https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/dsc00350wg.jpg/ | |

| At a glance, I'd guess some sort of Centruroides spp., but I'm not 100% positive.
Are there any illegal species in SA?

| It could be a Uroplectes species. They're kind of like the Centruroides of Africa.
But honestly, that's all I have for you :/

| For me it is a Centruriodes species. My guess is C. bicolor | |

| Thanks for all the reply's. Thank you 'ceaser' for clearing up the legality for me. Wasnt sure as we have some tarantulas that are not to be kept like the OBT and SA Baboon spider.
I was looking at some pictures of the mentioned species above and came to the conclusion of Uroplectes triangulifer
Let me know what your thoughts are on the specie.

| I think you are spot on with that. Had a look at a few pictures of the U.planimus and looked at my scorp. Very similar appearance if not exactly the same. Thanks for all the expert help Canth. | |

| there is no centruroides in africa. there was said to be c. gracilis in tanzania but the 3 found in tanzania were from a imported shipment of fruit and veggies from central america and were not found to be breeding in the wild and were brought to a lab or something but thats it for that just thought i would clear that one up | |
