| She eats about 5 med/large crickets a week.
The "substrate" is just aquarium gravel. I read recently that that was not good for the scorps but I've got several hides in there and some sheet moss for them to burrow in if they want (they never seem to use it). I've had the male for 6-7 months and I got the female over a month ago. They both seem to be doing really well. Do I need to change the substrate? I'm not a big fan of Coco Soft for aesthetic reasons, but I want to keep my little guys happy and healthy.

| Probably 1-2 medium or large cricket/roach per week will be decent for adult emps | |

| Don't worry too much about reducing feeding. Scorpions tend to quit eating when they're not hungry. This leads to panic among noobs, when the formerly gluttonous specimen will suddenly refuse prey for weeks to months at a time. | |

| I won't worry too much about over-feeding. She's a big girl though. I just weighed her and she is 28.5g. Over twice as big as my male. | |

| Fat
Change the substrate, gravel is no good and you could always just use regular potting soil.

| Haha, I was right about gravid If you get the chance, change the substrate to cocofiber or peat moss so she can dig burrows. I would also remove the other scorpion because females can be a bit feisty with their kids! And yes, congratulations! | |

| congrats! BUT omg you still have those scorpions on gravel! they need at least 4-6" of cocoa fiber, those must be some stressed emps. how do you keep the humidity up? you should sort that out asap as those scorplings will have a hell of a job molting in that environment. Good luck keep us posted | |

| I agree with the rest on the change of substrate. If you are considering an overhaul, you might as well prepare another tank with the right substrate and humidity just for her and her babies. At the meantime, you can redo the original tank at your pace. Hmn.. I wonder how we overlooked the substrate issue in the beginning.. Oh right. The focus was stolen by the ballooned-up body of hers Enjoy this miracle of birth. They are gorgeous!
