scorpion behavior

my scorpion is pregnant and she looks weak ,she does not go out of her hide even at night is this normal ? tnx

Hi and welcome to the forum. This thread will probably be moved to one of the scorpion sections. As for your question, I'll have to know a few things first.
What does the setup contain? What substrate are you using, what is the humidity and temperature? How exactly does your scorpion look weak and has it been going on for a while? How do you know it's pregnant? Even if it's dark, scorpions may still not venture out of their hides. Some of my scorpions come out every night and are active while others stay hidden for what seem like ages. I may have to know a few more things, but this is a start.

the set up contains a piece of bark with a substrate of cocopeat mixed with sand , its pregnant since my dealer told me so that it is .The temp in the tank is 32-34 °C since i live here in the Philippines thats our regular temp btw the type of scorpions i have is centruroides exilicauda, she does not go out of her hide for 1 week already even at night just like she is going to molt i don't know what the problem is please help .tnx

It's normal for a lot of scorpions to turn into pet holes from time to time, especially if gravid.

Is your piece of bark vertical? Bark scorpions tend to climb if given the opportunity, so if you put something vertical in you might see her more often.

Also, I wouldn't assume it is pregnant just because the dealer said so.

my scorpion gave birth last two days and she's not eating for almost 3 days now, is this alright? since ive read that there is a danger of cannibalism if the mother is hungry. another thing what shall i feed when this hatchlings detach from their mother ?? need help thanks .

It is perfectly normal for her to not eat while she's got babies on her back. The added stress of prey and you bothering her is more likely to result in cannibalism than hunger (scorpions produce a natural appetite suppressant at this stage in their life cycle).

Just pretend you don't have a scorpion for a week at least, and don't offer any prey at all until the young start coming off her back. Then only offer headcrushed prey so it can't hurt the scorplings. There's a good chance the mom will help break up the food and feed it to the young.
