First emp scorpion

I set up my 30x30 exo-terra tank with heating pad on the outside bottom,added the sand it came with and a couple inches of moss,i then added the water dish and a hallowed out rock.for light a put a purple 25 wt moonlight,its sittin at about 80 degrees f.I bought an emp scorpion yesterday with the crickets and its food. My question is , hes been hiding under the hallowed out rock all night and most of the day, is this normal adaptation ?

It is normal for them to hide for the majority of the time they are known as "pet holes" they will spend mosttime in burrows and under hides

but I must point out you have your scorpion on the wrong substrate emps should be kept on cocoa fiber/ peat deffinatly not sand and moss! and it should be 4-6 inches deep also you shouldn't put your heat matt under the tank it should be outside on the one of the sides, scorps burrow to escape heat,

Thanks bex ( p.s i creeped your pics ur scorps are awsome!) i re did his enclosure completely and he seems alot more content as am I. ill have pics up as soon as i get my sisters camera from er.

Hi i have the same problem too but they wouldnt like to eat at all.

It's been a month since they last ate(New year's eve).
I will be able to post pictures in a day or two.
