| where would you be getting it from? the dealer should know if it is a DWA. If it was then he/she should own the license himself and ask you for one aswell. But if it aint on the list then i cant see it being a problem, double check it tho, get in contact with your local council or if in doubt try enviromental health services | |

| there should be a list somewhere, and if it isnt banned without DWA in a group thats banned, then its fine.

| Here's a link to a thread about it: https://scorpionforum.darkbb.com/links-f8/defra-dwa-act-list-t3006.htmCentruroides are on it and it says all Buthids, so unfortunately it's a no go. If I'm wrong on this, pls correct me. In the unlikely event that they find out, some say they will confiscate your scorpions and others say there will be penalties that could be severe. It would be nice to know exactly what would happen, but I guess it could depend on the situation and who you're dealing with. They could go easy on your or the other way around, but I highly doubt keeping a couple of them and keeping it privately will arouse any attention. Either way, by forum rules, I am not condoning this | |

| I would say confiscate or in the extreme, a fine... I don't believe it would ever come to jail-time or something like that! |

| Its deffinatly all buthidae and Hemioscorpius - Hemioscorpius lepturus (middle eastern thin tailed scorpion)
We have been looking into getting our licence and it seems like its a one off payment rather than a yearly thing down here at our local council so it must vary on how hard it is to aquire a licence depending on where you are in the uk so contact your local council or have a look on thier website it should explain requirements... this is a direct link to the dwa list which was updated in 2007 when they added the Hemioscorpius Lepturus
http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/wildlife/protect/documents/dwa-animallist.pdf
We came very close to getting a b.jacksoni that someone was selling on the reptile forum but was asked for a licence .... i would deffinatly have got it if not though..... think if the authorities found out they would just remove it from you... maybe a fine | |

| Lol that sounds like way to much work to get the license compared to what the punishment might be in the unlikely event that you "get cought"...
Seriousely the police would have to have a search warrant to determine weather or not you have an illegal scorpion, and that has to be signed by a judge... and for what? an illegal scorpion? I don't think so... |

| Thanks for clearing that up, everyone I'm sure glad I don't have to deal with all of that crap! I don't even remember the last time a hobbyist was killed by a scorpion, let alone the scorpion escaping and killing someone else--all unfounded stuff! | |
