| Hello, I've had my emp for 3 and a half months now. He's been happy, eating, etc. etc. Today I found him like this (see attached photos). Any thoughts? Thanks! | |

| he does move around normally. when he's stationary, he sits normally, this is the first time I've seen him in a stationary position like pictured. Since i found him like this, he has returned to a normal stance, and has willingly eaten 1 large cricket. His last meal prior to this was approx. 5 days ago.

| How hot is your enclosure? Sometimes they do that when the temperature is too high. You might also want to consider dampening all of your substrate because there's probably very little humidity in there. | |

| Current temp. of habitat is 78 degrees F. I do mist down the substrate regularly, and there is a water 'bowl' in the habitat. I will mist it down now. | |

| Misting does work, but only for a very short time. A good way to give proper humidity levels is to just dump water onto the substrate and let it soak in until all of the substrate is damp.
What your emp could have been doing was cleaning itself.

| I suppose the habitat could have been dryer than optimal. Since misting it 5 mins ago, the hygrometer has gone up 12%... | |

| From the pictures it looks like dehydration more than anything, is there a waterbowl that it can at least crawl fully into thats kept up in the enclosure if you are going to keep the rest of the substrate dry? My emp and cavimanus like to bathe of sorts from time to time. | |

There is... He's outgrown it though, so he could climb into it, but maybe not fully submersed... is that preferable?

| the first thing that came to me when i saw the pics was gravid, but definatley dump water on the substrate and keep the humidity very high if your expecting it to give birth | |

| How deap is your substrate? And what is it, it looks very dry! Humidity should be at 70% Also what are you using to heat the tank? Ours kept doing this sitting in weird positions and stuff and unfortunatly a few weeks later he died but our humidity and temp was fine so think ours was old age, hope yours is ok I'm sure it is prly just gravid or cleaning like the others have said | |
