well this is our set up so far just been playing around a bit/trying different things also got a fake plant to go in when it arrivesand whole thing needs drying out and stuff...scorpions not due till next wednesday now...

very very nice... I like that almost makes me want the desert scorp more then a bark... but still undecided.... I will hold out until I get to see pics of yours before I pick what I get next...

Sweet looking enclosure!

Nice scorp, Telow. What's its size? It looks pretty big. Both of the ones I used to own were small, only about 3 inches max. They were sold to me as adults, but I'm not sure I believe it.

No worries, Bex. Although the scorps I received were on the smaller end, they were both quite active and enjoyed digging to the full extent

I really don't mind about the size just excited to see something more active and different to all the species we are used to .... Can't wait!

They are really active but strangely mine has shut herself in her burrow for over a month now. I know they can do this and go ages with out food but i'm starting to worry now. She had a random baby not too long ago so pretty sure she's not gravid or molting. There's no bad smell either.

Should I be thinking about digging her out?

If it's been month, I would dig her out!

Awesome pics there folks! I'm trying very hard not to want one of these too! Lol!! Maybe I'll get my son one or something if the itch gets too bad. All of my desires are getting to potent toxicity wise and this would be a good one for my kid to have in his room next to the rose hair Very beautiful species for sure!

I dug mine out last night and found one very angry scorp, maybe should have left her Its good to see her after over a month!

well at elast you now know shes alive and well lol hope our scorp looks as good as yours...2 dasy to go....what substrate you using?

Yeah it had to be done, i'v got a new tank set-up for her so no doubt she'll be hiding away again in no time but thats what was strange she's usually really active, out every night.

The substrate was 50/50 sand/excavator sand wetted, packed and completly dried but I dont recommend anyone uses this much evcavator as it was way too hard. I'd say 80/20, which is what iv done in the new tank. Saying that she did burrow fine through the rock hard sand even with mycosis on a of couple legs. I think aslong as the sand is dry and holds a burrow it will be fine.

how do you dry it out its seems to be taking ages for ours to dry out and am worried about the humidity (think our gauge is knackered though) shes due here wednesday morning so have just taken it all out and baked it and put it back in again lol so is much drier now

But does it stick then? How about drying it with a hair dryer? I don't think the scorpion will dig down to where it's TOO humid... If it doesn't like it, it won't go there (if there's an alternative)!

Tried hairdryer lol very messy just blew everywhere
