My Scary traumatic expierience with my Emp

before i setup my tank properly for my only emp, i setup a big tank for him, using coconut fibre,
pebbles for the bottom lair, logs n stuff to hide,
but instead of using a simple bottle to get the water to the pebbles i decided to make a seperate section out of pvc filled with pebbles again ,
so it was like an inch slot to pour the water when ever i needed it.

anyway to get to the point my emp burrowed all the way under into the slot were the pebbles were!!!

he stayed their for two days and i was getting worried he was stuck....
i decided to take action and empty the home to get access to the slot,
it was like a pile of smarties collapsing with my poor friend in the middle,....

i felt like a firefighter looking for dead bodies under rubble, i eventually so a Claw reaching out of the pebbles

so ill stick to good old fashion enclosures nothing to fancy lol

If you want the pebbles on the bottom just cover them with screen so the emp can't get to them,my experience is that the rocks are bmore of a nuisance .It makes the enclosure very heavy.You can still add the pipe, just drill holes around it and block off the bottom so it keeps the substrate moist near the pipe.

cheers for the heads up, ye pebbles get bloody heavy lol, still lookingbon ways to improve it for the comfort of trinity.

I keep tropical snails which obviously need high humidity aswell. I`ve just gone about it the same way with my Emperor as I do my snails. I`ve taken a normal fish tank, pulled off those ugly black bits on the top so I`ve just got a glass box. Just inside is a shelf, I cut a bit of glass or perspex to snuggly fit the top. Now you have a sealed glass box. Spray a good deal of water onto your substrate while mixing it in and when you put that tight fitting lid on, it`ll cause the water in the substrate to be recycled each time it evaporates. It collects on the "roof" and "walls" and drops back down to the substrate, nice and natural feeling If anything, my tank is a little too damp, in that case you just need to drill some small holes in the lid to let a little air circulate.......

i made lid from a plastic piece i found, an started off with 12 holes, but found it was to damp, drilled an extra 6 holes made a major difference, and i do the same aswell with condensation recycle, lol.
