| Im seriously thinking about getting a scorpion. I know most critters should be kept alone, but I always see scorpions together. Is it ok to have 2, or 3 in a 20 Gallon (long) tank together?
Is there anything else I should know? I have a bag and a half of potting soil (fert. free) is that ok, or do I need coconut substrate instead? I have a water dish, and a hiding spot. (Ill be picking up 2 more..probably flat rocks as well. Is there anything else I would need? Im thinking a heat pad on the side of the tank (as I hear they burrow to get away from heat...so on the bottom doesnt make sense to me) I want to make sure I know everything I need to know, and have a set up waiting for them when I buy them. (or IT if i should only keep one)

| you can have a few P. imperator (emperor scorpion) in a 20 gallon without problems, although i wouldnt try it with any flat rock species, they should be kept alone. im sure the ferilizer free potting soil might be ok but i'd get some coco fiber like eco earth. | |

| Coconut fibre is the best substrate for emperors. It is regularly available and is inexpensive.
You need at least two hides per scorp.
No more than four emperors in a 20 gallon tank.
Keep flat rocks individually - they are not communal.
Yes, heat mat on the back side of the tank.

| I think he meant "flat rocks" as hiding spots, not Hadogenes sp. Thus why common names suck. | |

| Ive got 2 hiding spots right now (have the one emp) and there is about 2 1/2 inches of soil, with a good inch of coconut on top. Is that ok? When I get more than one, should I bother with another water dish at all? | |

| Six inches of substrate is nice, but not necessary. I usually go with three or four. | |

No, having just one water dish is fine. They get most of their moisture from their food anyway.
