| It came in on a shipping container from Israel. I know nothing about scorpions and don't know what to do with it. It's alive and pissed. My uneducated guess is a Black Fat tail? | |

| That large telson, looks very Parabuthus... not an expert on desert buthids, so its hard to tell the species... but for a proper ID you need to give a much clearer photograph.
In any case if you want to keep it for yourself... put it in a round plastic deli, make holds in the side for ventilation (about 4 or 5 and best done with a soldering iron and without the scorpion inside when you do this)... give it roughly an inch or 2 of dry sand, a bit of bark to scrap a hide under, don't spray any water... just feed with crix...
that should keep it going until you get an accurate ID and proper care requirements...
Best regards | |

Best regards LXDNG check out this picture http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3643/3403854593_0fe7a0be8e.jpg look at the marking on the upper carapace and along the mesosoma, most of Parabuthus's metasomas are more fat then that and more chunky. And as far as i know Israel doesnt have Parabuthus sp.

Yes, sorry Kejser my bad... after looking around today, I stumbled on to a pic o the net that sent me back here to correct my error... like I said, I'm not an expert on desert buthids. But I'm glad you corrected my mistake... I didn't think of H. judaicus at first... and blur of the plastic container also put me off the size... My mistake.... yes I concur that it should be Hottentotta judaicus... sorry about that chap!!! P.S. but I think the care requirements should similar if not identical... I guess you might wanna add some dry coco-fibre with the sand-base substrate.
