help please

i have a female emperor, and was told she was gravid. how can i tell for sure?

Unless the person who told you that was someone who'd been in the hobby a while, they were probably just trying to get you to buy it.

As the others said, post an overall pictures as well as one of the underside (to confirm it's even a female).

Exactly as HE said. :spidey: Sorry to say man it sounds like a sales pitch. Ironically enough a couple of pet shops have offered me gravid females that were just fat males or an adolescent premolt. They know nothing of what theyre selling. They are just there to make a buck

my camera is down at the moment, gone for cleaning, so i will post pics as soon as possible.. hopefully get it back this afternoon so should be able to get some 2nite..

the other thing about "her" is that its constantly trying to climb!! we have moved her from a 30x30x30 exo terra into a 1 foot wide by 2 foot long by 8 inch high plastic box, and she just wont stop trying to climb out of it!! the other one we have (male i think) doesnt try climbing at all, and is nice and quiet at night!! just shes doing my head in with constant tapping and clambering up the sides of this plastic box!! why would she do that?

Don't worry about it, its completely normal. They like to explore and do so by climbing a lot of the time.

excuss me! i was asking why she would be doing it, yeah she annoys the heck out of me when she does it but i can deal with it! i was just asking why... i thought they were purely terestrial and didnt like to climb that was all

also, how do i tell for myself if she is gravid or not for future reference as i would like to breed them if i have got male and female. also, how would i go about breeding them? just put them in together, or would i have to introduce him/her to the other gradually?

I think he is meaning the first pic could pass for male.
I would call it male based on the operculum pic it looks pretty oval shape to me

Yep, top one is a male, the second one looks a bit like a male as well.

Yeah it is just a fat male. Don't feel bad the same thing happened to me at petco. Man had I known more about scorpions b4 I bought him. Ehh he is still a good pet

wow both male?!?!?! for definate? the first one has much smaller fans than the 2nd, does that not determine male or female? im just asking cuz i dont know by the way also, there is a MASSIVE size difference between the two.. maybe at least 2.5 inches in length, possibly even 3 inches.

Looking at the operculum ( genital opening ) is the most accurate way of sexing.

If you just look at the "fans" as you put it, it would sort of be like looking at a human and going that must be a man look at those muscles hehe

I'm not 100% on the second one but pretty sure.
It's just that there is a little bit of white dirt covering the "point" or "arrow head" that would be there if it were female.
