So... There's the distinct possiblity I'm just stupid but I can't figure out how to get to my inbox...

Click "message" at the top bar of navigation buttons.

Congratulations, you're now at your inbox.

If this didn't work, "inbox" is a button in the secondary bar of navigation buttons you should now be seeing.
