Grain Mites

Right guys, 9/10 of my 4i emps have about 6-20 grain mites on them. They are either located above the pectines or on the side of the carapace. I have submerged each scorp fully in warm water for about 30 seconds each in the hope of drowning some if not all of the mites.

They are in separate containers now near the heat mat so that they can dry a little. Is there anything else i can do?

I've heard of the vaseline but i'm not sure i'll be able to do that as they are quite small and so it would be difficult for me to get to them. Also how would i hold the scorp? They are all "trigger happy" as it were.

if they are on the animal, they aren't grain mites. they are paraistitc mites. i have had good experience with a preator mite Hypoaspis miles with some WC millipedes. i did some lab experiments with them and they seem to be able to eat anything smaller than them. not sure if they are available in England. action is needed as mites are capable of reproducing very rapidly.

Update: i have successfully managed to remove all mites from 4 scorps using the vaseline method. Tomorrow i shall attempt the same with the others.

Hopefully things will start to look up.
