I have three healthy adult Emperors, 2 males and 1 female. I have a large wooden enclosure with a removeable divider and a glass front. We all know what wood does to moisture. I previously clear coated the enclosure and waited nearly a month for it to dry. That isn't a problem. I didn't know before I set the scorps up that they needed 80-90% humidity.
I even used repti bark instead of peat moss or coconut fiber. They do have two large water bowls, and I spray constantly, but I seriously doubt the humidity is where it is supposed to be. The scorpions appear healthy, do not appear to be dryed out, and eat well. Assuming they have all the clean water they could drink, would you leave things how they are?
Semi damp substrate would be very messy on a wood bottom, but I do not want to be stressing a tropical animal that requires humidity. Would you change the enclosure, or leave it?
