| So I went to check on a few of my scorps today -- I look in my B. jacksoni enclosure, and what do I find? A dead male. The female looks fine, and he wasn't injured. So now I just have to hope that they mated in the two weeks they were together and see if I get babies in a few months. He looked a little scrawny but I put some prey in a couple days ago. He was less than a year old and he matured just under seven months ago. | |

| They were together for about two weeks, so there's a pretty good chance. The real kicker? I found two other dead scorps today -- my male H. paucidens (but he was really sluggish and skinny when I got him, and my female rejected him, so hopefully SHE'S gravid) and my unidentified Centruroides sp.. I'm kind of having a bad day. I also saw that our (not turned on) humidifier had been leaking into my juvenile H. paucidens enclosure -- it was pretty damp, but the scorp was nice and fat and active. I couldn't see any mycosis. On a happier note, three of my baby H. longimanus molted. | |

| Today is kind of a weird day for scorps. My Australis was found dead. | |

| Run of bad luck there Mike, sorry for your losses...
Do you want to try your hand at raising H paucidens from I2, if so I'll send you 1/2 of my remaining little ones (still have about 20) when it warms up for shipping cost... |

| Thanks, Thaedion! I think I'll have to take you up on that. How difficult have they been so far? The local petstore got some H. paucidens recently (look like 2I) and I suggested they separate them when possible. Rasputin, I'm pretty sure the unidentified Centruroides sp. was an AZ bark, but it was too small to tell for sure -- and someone pointed out that it had a subacular prong, when their AZ barks did not. Anywho, all the pictures I've posted of it online can be found here -- they're the pics with the file name starting with IMG. It molted once after those pictures and got a little darker (looked kind of like each tergite had a dark band going across it). | |

| Sorry to hear that Mike!!!
About your unidentified Centruroides...It is a Sculp/Exili but Rasputin, I do have to say that a few of my different Cetruroides have subaculear prongs so I dont know if that is what you were coming to the conclusion with. Majority of Bark scorps have the subaculear prong but there are a few that dont. Anyway, that looks to me like one of the "Orange" morph C. sculps that I picked up from Phoenix with Josh a couple months back. | |

| I wasn't concerned about the subaculear prongs. I was basing identification on color alone, it's already obvious that it's a Cent and there is only one Cent with that color morph...well, technically 2 but their names overlap because of constant name changes and toxicity and locality and so on and so forth. at any rate it's either Sculp or Exili which have been described as 2 different species as of 2004. most likely a Sculp | |
