| Hi guys, how's everyone today? Did a quick search on sexing these Chinese delicacy, but I'm pretty sure no one posted here on Scorpforum on sexing of Mesobuthus martensii. Hints will be much appreciated. It would also be super if the comments are accompanied with pictures. Its always easier to explain and understand with pictures! Thanks. | |

| Males have slightly bulbous pinchers and a narrower body than the females. Male: Female: | |

| They're called "armored" for a reason. | |

| Thank you Mike. That one really made my day. Btw, do males also have the notch in between the moving and fixed fingers? | |

| They're your average "bark" scorpion -- about 2" or so in length. Rafiq, I honestly can't remember -- it's been a while since I owned any. *checks gallery* Well, I see a "bump," but it's too out-of-focus to see if there's a "notch." | |

| Thanks Mike. After checking your previous pictures, unfortunately. I think I also noticed that the female was either gravid/really full. I'm afraid the comparison is paled by this fact. Perhaps you have a pic of a female that looks less plump? I'm getting a bunch in soon and I think that some of those who may trade/buy some of them off of me would appreciate it very much if I could tell them the sex. I'd love to send them pairs instead of unsexed specimens. That way chances for breeding is better, we don't get nice things here in Malaysia very often. | |

| Unfortunately, I only have two pictures of females, and the other one isn't any better. But if you have a pair side-by-side it's pretty easy to tell if they're male or female. | |
