| I have read that they have been found in Albania and Greece in different habitat from the mountains to the coast, from dry to more moisture climates. I keep mine at low humidity approx:50% and on dry substrate sand/gravel (size:1-2mm) mix (don't know the english word for it) with an weekly mist. Not much just so they can drink the drops as I have never seen mine drink from a waterdish like M. martensii who on the other hand almost like to take a bath I lost a gravid female earlier on (my best guess during to low heat,if not just bad luck) so I keep mine with higher temp. 80F' or 26C' at daytime. They should be semi-communual and I have subadult/adult living 2 and 2 together with no problem in a 30x30x30cm......yet Good luck with them.I'm guessing you bought the 1.3 on EI Regards | |

Yes! I have read that too! and therefore I was confused about their humidity and heat requirements. - Sativa wrote:

Regards Yes, I bought the 1.3 and I just found out that one of the females is pregnant Should I quarantine her? Okay, so a semi dry setup, not so much digging among them? Your substrate, is it a mix of soil and sand? ......

| If she shows any form of aggression towards the others then yes.At least I would seperate her before she pops. They don't dig much, but will use natural burrows/hides. I don't use soil but I dont think that would matter.Personally I keep the substrate dry.The only water they get is from that weekly misting.

| I wouldn't but again I'm no specialist If you ask me I would recomment a sand/gravel mix (sand/grus mix) As this is how I keep mine today and they all seems fine. Regards | |

| I keep mine on soil/gravel mix,a small hide and nothing more.Once in a while i spray some water on one corner.
They seem to prefer their substrate more packed and hard. I have seen them more stressed at loose soil. On packed soil/gravel mix, they seem to move faster and capture prey on the first attempt.
I have never seen them drinking, even though i had a small water "bowl". Gnerally, M.gibbosus is found on mostly arid environments. However, i have spotted many near large water reservoirs. Hope that has helped.

Or should I quarantine the pregnant and introduce her to the others when she have given birth to new scorplings ??

| I would say to leave her in a tank of her own ,until the babies molt to 2i and roam away from her. Then you can safely introduce her to the "communal" enclosure. I would advise you not to keep the temps very high, about 25-28 max. This is to minimize chance of cannibalism. It has been observed that they share hides during winter time. | |

| Nothing special. Just give her a more spacious hide, and she might want to burrow under it and "seal" the exits. You can mist one corner about once in a week or less often. I personally spray when it is raining.Just don't overdo it. | |

| Got 1.3 yesterday and if I just may add:
Every caresheet I find it says that they don't drink from a dish and only gets water from drops or from feeding, but I put in a small waterdish anyway and I have so far witnessed 3 of them drinking from it, so I guess a waterdish shouldn't be missing!
I know this is an old post but thought I would just add this... |
