| I just got my first scorpion... an emperor. Now, I read up on caresheets, threads and have talked to friends w/ emps so I would know how to take care of him. One thing I was not aware of, though, was how they eat. I dunno what I was expecting but those little claw things are so cool! He looks like a little, like, machine or something. Haha... I just want to keep feeding him and feeding him so I can see those little things in action...haha, or maybe I should videotape it so I can watch it whenever I want? I guess I never paid attention to that part of a scorpion's anatomy before. BTW, Eddy... this is Bell from Mile High Bugs. Thought I'd give your forum some love since you signed up at mine. | |

| I know I saw when you registered. Thanks for joining. And welcome aboard. Feel free to post your site on the link section. I think I already have it on the local group section. As for your problem... idunno once you start it's really hard to stop feeding them. Especially the scorps that use their tails. LOL. Most emps will just stop eating after a while. But for those of you with other species some will take food as it comes and become blimp-like. -Eddy | |

| Like Eddy said, most scorpions simply quit eating when it gets to the point of overfeeding -- if it doesn't eat, don't worry. If you've got a little blimp on your hands, it's best to slow things down until they either molt or lose some weight. I feed my scorps pretty lightly so I've never encountered any real fatties. | |

| My Imperial *Stingy as you know* still isnt hungry after her feed after giving birth...so feed date and she had one cricket was 6th Feb! She still isnt interested. Will take crickets out and wait unitl the weekend, take out and repeat every so often. Most scorpions if they arent hungry wont eat but some might binge eat. You have a long time with your scorpion *hopefully* so dont think about wanting to over feed to see the Chela in action, you have a long time to admire the scorpion and the way it feeds xxxxxx | |

| Overfeeding them isnt really anything you need to worry about. Most will only eat 1-2 crix a week. | |
