| I would put it into a clean tub with a bowl of water for a few days.
The mites should hopefully dry out or in the search for moisture, drown in the water.
as for the normal tank substrate I would chuck it and put new in with an infestation as bad as this.
But you need to keep a very close eye on the scorpion to make sure it doesn't suffer from dehydration
With a bit of luck the vasoline will have worked itself into the hard to reach area's

| it doesn't look like a juvenile to me... ... try and give us another pic.
also, to answer your question, i've heard that using an ear bud very gently is a good solution.

| Keeping him dry, only with a bowl of drinking water may resolve the problem, combined with the quick removal of any organic leftovers from food items or anything else. | |

| @LadyRiotControl-I clean its tank and replace coco-fibre to tissue paper for easier cleaning and keep it dry.I did place a water dish inside.I try to feed it to prolong its life to hope that the mites die 1st.A question,i heard that mites infest a scorpion for its moisture,if i feed it and it drink water and regain moisture, will the mites leave it? @binksyboy3-It is 7cm in length without counting its metasoma.I use cotton bud and dip some vaselin to apply on the infested area. | |

| ok, its unlikely but it could of course be coming up to a molt in which case the mites will be shed along with the old exoskeleton, but i can't see that happening. But you never know, you might get lucky. | |

| well last time I had this problem. I used a cotton bud with vasaline. put the scorpions into a clean enclosure and they dropped off and I found some in the water bowl. And this scorpion was under 2" full body length. The whole process took 3 days
they should dry out quicker than they can infest the scorpion. when it isn't in humid conditions you have taken away the best conditions for the mites to live in.
keep feeding the scorpion as normal and take out all uneaten left overs. it should be fine

| @binksyboy3-I really it can molt asap. But wat i scare is if the mites "suck" enough moisture of it then will it stuck in molt?
@LadyRiotControl-Thx so much...If i switch on the fan to reduce the humidity faster will it help?Of course not blow at it,but blow at the top of the tank.
And,there r many mites hiding behind its pectines teeth. Will they enter its exoskeleton?I heard that it can kill the scorpion.

| As i know they enter the exo through the genital opening... Don't worry bout the molt, as if it get enough hydration (From either food or water bowl) it should be able to molt well | |

| The key for a successful molt is hydration if im not mistaken + Our country air humidity usually around70-90% depending on weather, that is more than enough IMHO Moreover u have a water dish inside, shouldn't be a problem But i could be wrong, anyone do correct me if im wrong | |

| nah, i think you're right Ryokenzaki, but from my experience, where i live (britain), there needs to be plenty of moisture within the enclosure for a successful molt. I.e. regular pouring of water onto the substrate. | |

| Post a pic of the whole scorpion, if you can. If it is indeed immature, when it molts, remove the exoskeleton immediately and most of the mites should leave with it.
Also, look for some predatory mites if you can. They are slightly larger than those infesting your scorpion, they run about very quickly (for a tiny critter, anyway), and they EAT the bad mites. You might have some in your other tanks (I find them in many of my tanks, and they're usually the first to show up and scavenge any dead remains).

| Scoop some dirt from outside into a tub.
Examine it for little critters running around. These are probably predatory mites.
Transfer them gently with a fine paintbrush into your scorpion's enclosure. If you don't have a fine paintbrush, tape a few of your hairs to the end of a pencil to make a very small brush.
