what do 2I emps look like URGENT!

just checked on my female with her 3 surviving babies, they were ALL off her baack but to me dont look like they moulted, i do see some white stuf stuck to her leg but like i said none of the babies look like theyve moulted, Ive taken the risky business of puttin them back onto her back and they seem to be holding on ok but ive setup a wee incubator box just incase, what are the chances theyll sruvive if i were forced to take them away before theyve moulted n left her back as they normally should?

If anyone out there i need help on this fast!

They would have shed to 2i in about a week, no longer and the white stuff on her would be the molts

hmmm see its been 2 weeks and theyre still fat wi wee short tails, what are theyre chnces of survival if i take them away from mother cause shes not botherin to look after them theyve all came off her back again and are just lying on the substrate, surely takin them away cant be much different than keeping them on her back cause all thats for is defense and its not like im gonna eat them lol

It's more than for defence, its also to moderate thier body temperature and if they do fall off their mothers back prematurely the likelihood of survival is practically nil.

But if they have come off of thier own accord and have already had thier last shed then it will be ok to separate them

thats the thing tho they havent shed but it does look like theyve come off themselves but they cant seem to walk on the substrate so i dunno waht to do

nah cant get any good photos basically they look like theyre just born but a bit thinner

Doesnt sound like good news , when you have emp baby's its best to ignore and not disturb them for about 2 weeks. Stops most complications

The "thinner" bit and "on the substrate" sounds like they've molted. Just quit poking and prodding and leave them be.

yeah but i thought they never leave till theyve moulted and not one of them has moulted thats what im worried about.

The white stuff you found on mom's leg sure sounds like exuviae to me.

Check out these two pictures: they're U. mordax before and after the molt to 2I. I couldn't tell at first, either, but I eventually concluded that they'd molted because the shape was slightly thinner (as you've seen in yours) and I found white stuff stuck on mom (also as you've seen).

like youve advised ill leave them alone but im fairly sure they havent moulted or at least not all of them cause the 2 that are off her back cant walk on the substrate and theyre metasomas are exactly as they were when they were born hwere as from the pics above the metasomas grow longer after the first moult, but ill just leave them alone if they die aw well ill just wait for my other female to po (she bloody well better ¬_¬ )

you should take those two that havent molted (if they wont stay on her back) and put them in a smal delicup with moist paper towel substrate and in fairly warm temp.

I thoguht about that and actually set up a box with damp coco fibre in it and a hide but if you think i should put the 2 deserters in a box maybe i should, what do you rekon cause i put them back on her back the other night (bit daft i know but im desperate) and now theyre off again whereas the remaining one if doin fine n is actually kipping on her stomach now.

EDIT: forgot to mention the wee tub im talkin about has an inch of coc fibre in the bottom so the temps not too high (cause all i can do is put it on top of a heat mat and although the hygrometre says 70% (theyre unreliable i know) theres loads of big droplets of condensation on the lid and walls so the humidity is prolyl up pretty high, should i use coc fibre or damp paper towel?

Right ive put the 2 deserters in a wee deli sup sorta thing with some damp paper towel and then a wee bit over the top of them to keep the light off and put them at the cool end of the emps enclosure should that work?

Sorry to here that! Next one that pops just leave her alone with the babies for a couple of weeks without disturbing them and they should be fine!
