Vaejovid in Phoenix Empty
PostSubject: Vaejovid in Phoenix   Vaejovid in Phoenix Empty5/3/2009, 3:31 am

This scorp was caught near Phoenix, AZ, and I'm guessing it's some kind of Vaejovis / Hoffimanus sp.

It'll be here on Monday and I can take my own pics then, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas in the meantime. I'm not sure what size it is.

Looks like Hoffmanius spinigerus but my one has a slightly darker colouration on her tergites so it may be some other species of Hoffmanius possibly Confusus?

PostSubject: Re: Vaejovid in Phoenix   Vaejovid in Phoenix Empty5/4/2009, 4:40 pm

Just arrived today . . . it's definitely spinigerus. The distinct spines and stripes on the metasoma are identical to others I've seen. It's a male and possibly in premolt.

I hope my female hurries up and has her babies. Very Happy
