| I would say it was a Longimanus. The telson is black and there is some granulation on the carapiece. From what I believe the Laoticus has a smothe carapiece (I had a Laoticus and left with her mass of babies!)

| Wow, what a divided board. As stated, H. laoticus is the only Heterometrus sp. that has a smooth carapace, and there's definitely granulation present in this specimen. H. longimanus have elongated chela (hence the name), so it's definitely not that. Of the available options, I'd say H. spinifer, but I can't eliminate something like H. petersii. Does anyone have that PDF of the granulation patterns for this whole genus? | |

| Females have long ones, males have really long ones.
Edit: That's not the PDF I was thinking of; there's one where it shows a typical carapace and fifth metasoma segment for each species, highlighting the granulation pattern. I'll see if I can find it.

| Found it! Bottom of linked page below, in G. Carnell's post. It's a ZIP file of several PDFs, each is a page and has a few diagrams that should be useful for IDing hets.

| Those aren't pinheads. H. laoticus (the poster, not the species) -- did you check out this link? - Mr. Mordax wrote:

http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=77160 Try going there and comparing the granulation patterns of yours to those shown in the download.
