| How big do Emps get? How do i know when he is fully grown? The lady at the pet shop said he could eat pinkies, if so, how big does he have to be to do so? sorry for asking so many questions. thank you | |

| They get ~5-6". You can tell when he's fully grown by the color of his telson (stinger). Adults have a darker telson and sub-adults have a lighter telson (cream-colored).
You don't have to feed him pinkies. It's really not necessary. Just feed him crickets/roaches like the rest of us.

| they can get to about 8", but that's quite rare. also, don't feed your scorpion pinkies because completely pointless. they are around 90% water. just feed crickets and roaches. | |

| ^I would assume they're around 60% water -- that's what humans are, anyway -- and bugs have a fair amount of water too.
The reason pinkies are pointless is because the leftovers make a huge stinky gooey mess and can make your tank go nasty in a hurry. And if your scorpion is fasting (which emps regularly do, especially males), then it's an even BIGGER waste, because it won't get eaten. Uneaten crickets or roaches can just go back in the feeder colony.

| ok, i will definitely not feed pinkies then. i have the start of a cricket colony going now so crickets work best anyway. i do not really have access to roaches at my local pet shops but i am sure i could find them. are there any other good things to feed him? | |

| yay! someone listening to advice! they can have locusts and mealworms and waxworms. they dont need much of a varied diet so just crix and roaches should be fine | |

| sure, I feed mine (occasionally) waxworms, mealworms, superworms, and demestid larvae. I only feed these occasionally because they are pretty fatty.. but they seem to do well. | |

| I just got a roach colony in the mail and I love it. Crickets stink and jump around too much. If you are going to keep food for your scorpion I would recommend getting roaches. They have no odor like crickets...better meat to shelll ratio...don't fly or climb smooth surfaces (some do, but the kind you want don't)...and the tropical species won't live long enough if they get out to invade your home! I'll post some pics of my scorplings eating a nymph roach later. Here's a pic of my blaberus bolivenus colony. | |

| One other thing...one emperor won't eat all those roaches...so get a roach colony, then you have to get more scorpions | |

| I feed my lot crickets and those who are big enough, every so often I will feed hoppers or locusts. I dont tend to use meal worms since they arent always fussed for them not wax worms | |
