| I have had an Emperor Scorp for a few weeks. Is it better to just put crickets in the tank or use long tweezers to feed the Scorp? Thanks! | |

| It depends. If you have a large tank with too many hiding places for prey, or a prey species that tends to burrow, use tongs (assuming they don't scare your scorp off). If you're using a non-burrowing prey and the best hiding spot for it is your scorpion's burrow, just drop it in.
Standard rule of thumb is to remove it if it's not eaten in 24 hours . . . unless you find prey hiding where the scorp can't get to it.

| Personally, I kill the crickets before putting them in. Well, partially imobilise them by decapitating them. That way, I know for sure if they have fed or not. I only have a small collection. | |

| I have never been able to get a scorpion to feed from tongs!
Just one tip when putting in crickets though, the female crickets will start to lay eggs as soon as they can in a humid set up. i bend and twist the ovipositer so they cant drop their eggs.
And in case you didn't know, female crickets have 3 pin like bits at the end of their abdomen, the middle one bring the ovipositer, males only have two.

| best bet is to clean out the substrate. but if you put in a female cricket and she was killed before she laid then you have nothing to worry about

| ^Cleaning out the substrate is a big ol' pain in the butt. Once they hatch, just make sure you have a good full water dish. They'll all wind up drowning in it in short order.
You can also place a drinking straw in the tank, sealed at one end. They'll hide in it and you can remove it along with the crickets, repeating until none are left.
